چکیده

A rigorous methodology for mapping thermal and RGB images on three-dimensional (3-D) models of building façades is presented. The developed method differs from most existing approaches because it relies on the use of thermal images coupled with 3-D models derived from terrestrial laser scanning surveying. The primary issue for an accurate texturing is the coregistration of the geometric model of the façade and the thermal images in the same reference system. This task is done by using a procedure standing out from other approaches adopted in current practice, which are mainly based on the independent registration of each image on the basis of homography or space resection techniques. A rigorous photogrammetric orientation of both thermal and RGB images is computed together in a combined bundle adjustment. This solution allows one to have a better control of the quality of the results, especially to reduce errors and artifacts in areas where more images are mosaicked onto the 3-D model. Several products can be obtained: 3-D triangulated textured models or raster products like orthophotos, having the temperature as radiometric value. The proposed approach is tested on different buildings of Politecnico di Milano University. Applications demonstrated the performance of the procedure and its technical applicability in routine thermal surveys. © The Authors. Pedestrian Detection in Infrared Outdoor Images Based on Atmospheric Situation Estimation

Observation in absolute darkness and daytime under every atmospheric situation is one of the advantages of thermal imaging systems. In spite of increasing trend of using these systems, there are still lots of difficulties in analysing thermal images due to the variable features of pedestrians and atmospheric situations. In this paper an efficient method is proposed for detecting pedestrians in ...

Model-to-image Registration and Automatic Texture Mapping Using a Video Sequence Taken by a Mini Uav

3D city models are used in many fields. Photorealistic building textures find applications such as façade reconstruction, thermal building inspections and heat leakage detection using thermal infrared (TIR) images, quantitative evaluation or study of the materials lying on the object’s surface using multispectral images. Often texturing cannot be done using the same data which was used for 3D r...

A Hybrid Algorithm based on Deep Learning and Restricted Boltzmann Machine for Car Semantic Segmentation from Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs)-based Thermal Infrared Images

Nowadays, ground vehicle monitoring (GVM) is one of the areas of application in the intelligent traffic control system using image processing methods. In this context, the use of unmanned aerial vehicles based on thermal infrared (UAV-TIR) images is one of the optimal options for GVM due to the suitable spatial resolution, cost-effective and low volume of images. The methods that have been prop...

Fusion of Thermal Infrared and Visible Images Based on Multi-scale Transform and Sparse Representation

Due to the differences between the visible and thermal infrared images, combination of these two types of images is essential for better understanding the characteristics of targets and the environment. Thermal infrared images have most importance to distinguish targets from the background based on the radiation differences, which work well in all-weather and day/night conditions also in land s...
